Sarah Silverman Acknowledge Twitter Users' Anger Over Her Controversial Jesus Tweet

Sarah Silverman responded to Twitter outraged over her insinuation that Jesus didn't have a specific gender and it seems she's not backing down to ease the tension on social media.

The 45 year old comedian, who was recently nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award took to Twitter on Tuesday to respond to the angry social media users over her previous tweet about Jesus.

She acknowledged the users' anger by writing, "I prefer not to respond to nonsense but here (re Jesus being gender fluid tweet, which I still love)." Along with her tweet is a message, explaining about her first controversial tweet.

Silverman said she was in Wales at that time with her boyfriend, while in the car, she thought she could "send out a Christmas tweet." She then continued by saying, "decided to add on a word from our collective new vocabulary, since, to me, it's funny, beautiful, and true in that He is all of us."

The actress who once dated Michael Sheen then concluded, "The absolute best is when the [adorable] haters write 'I'd like to see you make fun of Jews!' Um, hi, have we met??."

Silverman has long been outspoken about different issues but just recently been criticized after she greeted everyone with a flippant message. "MERRY CHRISTMAS! Jesus was gender fluid!" she wrote on the social media platform.

After making a facetious remark, many of the observers responded, expressing their disapproval about her message hitting on Jesus. Some of them said that her quote wasn't "funny" while others accused Silverman of being "disrespectful."

But instead taking the issue seriously, Silverman, who once vowed not to marry until same sex marriage is legalized just took everything wittily by simply encouraging her followers to check out her new movie I Smile Back.

Sarah Silverman is yet to comment about the backlash.
