This Thursday, a career event is scheduled to expose students to career options that they may not be aware of.
The Director of the Red River Valley Education Cooperative, Janet O'Hara, announces the "Explore North Valley Career and Technical and Education" event will be held in Grafton, North Dakota.
The event is sponsored by the RRVEC.
Schools around the state have been slowly including more science, engineering, technology and math education to local classrooms in order to improve the children's chances at a successful careers found in each subject. These subject concentrations are growing nationwide as well.
An appearance by Brooks Harper, a national public speaker with several years of corporate experience under his belt will speak about what skills they need in order to proceed in this century.
As students will listen to his talk, his goal is to explain that everyday is a potential job interview.
It's best to start at an early age, they say and this is the reason why O'Hara is focusing on the students' future. They will be able to learn about what will make them eligible for a career in a specific field and they will be exposed to information about technical education scholarships that they can benefit from.
This event is a step further in educational development as it gives students the opportunity to see what the future brings.
As described by an education site, it is vital that the things students learn in school right now and in the fields they will choose can give them successful careers.
O'Hara says,
We're trying to broaden horizons and say it's really OK to take an alternative path or find their passion and figure out what they really want to do.
Hundreds of students from around the state is said to attend the event, reports indicated.
