Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach Joins 2016 Super Bowl for a Special Hosting Stint

Fans of the current Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach will be happy to know that she is joining the Super Bowl as a Special Correspondent of INSIDE EDITION for its Super Bowl 50 coverage on CBS. The game will pit the Denver Broncos against the Carolina Panthers for the NFL championship.

Wurtzbach, a Filipina, won the 2015 Miss Universe crown amidst a devastating mistake that Steve Harvey made. He initially announced Miss Colombia as the winner who was dutifully crowned by the outgoing 2014 Miss Universe, also a former Miss Colombia.

Wurtzbach gracefully exited and joined Miss USA at the back while the newly crowned Miss Colombia savored her moment of victory. Only to be dismayed when Harvey went back and announced his mistake showing the winners' card. The card clearly revealed that Miss Philippines, Wurtzbach, is the rightful winner.

Now, she is doing the rounds as the representative of the existing universe. "Pia is a natural fit as INSIDE EDITION's Super Bowl Correspondent," says Charles Lachman, Executive Producer. "She has the on-air poise that we look for in our talent, and as reigning Miss Universe, she's no stranger to a thrilling competition," he adds.

She will be reporting from Santa Clara alongside Megan Alexander, an IE correspondent, and will cover all Super Bowl events including behind-the-scenes previews, exclusive interviews, and more importantly, live game coverage.

Last week, Wurtzbach went back to her homeland, the Philippines, and was greeted with confetti as thousands of fans lined up the streets shrieking in glee to see the newly crowned Miss Universe.

She was on top of a fully decorated float that was copied from her Miss Universe crown and wearing the blue-green gown she wore the night she won the title. The float went around Manila, the country's capital, paralyzing traffic although no one seems to mind since they again have the Miss Universe crown after 42 years.
