Ex One Direction member Zayn Malik has finally dropped his first single as a solo act called 'Pillowtalk', along with a smutty music video that features his rumored model girlfriend Gigi Hadid, as reported by The Independent on Friday.
Now going by the stage name ZAYN, the 23-year-old blurts some explicit lyrics in his new track, talking about "a place that is so pure, so dirty and raw". Apart from the naked women and rather 'trippy' kaleidoscope effects in the video where a woman spreads her legs for a pink flower to burst open, what shook the internet most was the steamy lip locking between Malik and Hadid.
Knowing that he's about to receive various reactions from everyone, Malik took to the Sunday Times Culture magazine to share his thoughts on how sex is a part of this life's normalcy and how he thinks it's something people want to hear about. "It's part of everybody's life, a very big part of life! You don't want to sweep in under the carpet. It has to be talked about," he added.
Due for its release in March, Mind of Mine is Malik's first upcoming album and Pillowtalk is the first track. During an interview on Beats 1 on Wednesday, Malik told radio host Zane Lowe that One Direction was just never his cup of tea. He also admitted that he wanted to leave the band during its first year. "I never really wanted to be in the band. I just gave it a go because it was there at the time," Malik stated.
Despite the speculations and the recent photographs circulating on the web, Malik still did not fully admit that him and Hadid are exclusively dating. When asked by Lowe about their relationship, Malik plays coy by saying that they are just 'good friends'.
