Five Mistakes That Can Damage Your Career

If you want your career to advance in ways that you've always dreamed of, then there are certain things that you must and must not do. Making mistakes in the field that you've chosen is one of the most normal things in your career life, but unfortunately, there are those that could severely hurt your job. Take a look at five of them:

1.  Switching jobs too often or too early. Although this mistake depends on the situation, it will always be a serious matter. If you've been on the same line of work for years and just realized that it really isn't where you find joy or for whatever reason, switching jobs can be acceptable. But, if you only just started, and leave ever so early, it opens doors for you to repeat that mistake all over again.

2. Leaving the company on a bad note. Leaving a job sure is inevitable, but leaving with a negative impression is a mistake that you can avoid. For situations like poor treatment, resist the strong urge of bad-mouthing your boss or your company. The world gets smaller as time passes by, and it's not impossible for you to encounter the same people all over again.

3. Constantly yearning for "greener pastures". Yes, there shall be days when you don't feel like doing your work, but wishing to be doing other work frequently can be the root of your boredom which can result to poor work performance and jumping into drastic decision-makings that may not be of any good.

4. Getting a little too comfortable with your work. This mistake can either make or break you. Getting too comfortable means doing everything on a breeze, but at certain times, it can be easy for you to get lazy.

5. Not being able to identify the fine line between personal and professional relationships. One of the most common mistakes occurs between interpersonal communications. Keep clear boundaries between your personal to professional life. That way, you'll know how to act accordingly.
