Wal-Mart Shooting: Man Chases, Guns Down Buck In Parking Lot

There it stood, a buck with a massive frame and ten-point antlers raised to the sky. Easily one of the nicest bucks Indiana County, PA has seen in years. Arcangelo Bianco Jr., 40, was lucky enough to be the one to spot it, and there was no way he was going to miss his opportunity. Hopping out of his truck, he took aim at the white-tail deer and fired away.

In a Wal-Mart parking lot. And he missed. So he fired several more rounds. Did I mention this was all done in a Wal-Mart parking lot?

On November 26th of this past year, and the first day of antlered deer hunting season, at around 2:10 p.m Bianco spotted the buck running through the parking lot from his pickup truck. The deer quickly scampered around the side of the building, and Bianco quickly followed, hopping out of his car and firing multiple rounds in the pursuit.

Eventually, Bianco was able to bag his prize, landing a critical shot as the buck left the Wal-Mart parking lot. The buck made it across the nearby highway before collapsing and subsequently being scooped up by Bianco in his truck. From there, he took his newfound trophy to a meat processor for butchering.

"Obviously, we can't have someone running through a Walmart parking lot shooting at a deer," said Jack Lucas, the wildlife conservation officer who investigated the incident.

Bianco may have landed his prize buck, but he has now been caught squarely in the crosshairs of the U.S. judicial system. In a hearing before District Judge Jennifer Rega that is scheduled to start May 1, Bianco will face a charge of reckless endangerment as well as five hunting violations. The evidence against him includes surveillance footage of the store's parking lot and the deer that he later recovered from the processor. This very well could  be the first time that the ever-thrifty Wal-Mart has been unable to save a buck.
