Nintendo NX Release Date To Be Revealed This April? Controller Design Leaked!

The Nintendo NX release date could possibly be revealed this April, before E3 2016. The highly-anticipated console may be unveiled during the company's investor's meeting next month.

TweakTown reported that the gaming giant has been careful not to let the official Nintendo NX release date and other details be leaked. NeoGAF insider Orgen has confirmed that fans will "get more NX info before E3."

"I think (and now this is personal opinion) it'll be more related to a full reveal than a 'we're working on it and we'll see more at E3' so that's why I said that I don't know if this new info will be in the briefing meeting or a separate direct," he wrote. "But you can bet that you're going to get more NX info before E3."

The insider speculated that the company may hold a special Nintendo Direct to showcase and unveil their upcoming console. Hopefully, the Nintendo NX release date could also be revealed by then. The publication noted that a pre-E3 reveal would give enough hype and traction for the console between April and June.

According to Venture Beat, a Nintendo NX release date happening this year would be the best step for the company since the 3DS is almost outdated and the Wii U was not as successful as they had hoped. "We are increasingly of the idea that Nintendo might launch the NX in 2016 because of the softness of 3DS and Wii U," Macquarie Capital Securities analyst David Gibson said.

Meanwhile, images of the alleged Nintendo NX controller were leaked online via Reddit. VG247 reported that the new hi-res pictures were credited to Redditor perkele37.

The photos revealed that only the "upper nubs" of the controller can be moved. The rollers on top are described to feel and appear identical to a mouse scroll-wheel.

The bottom part of the console is static and seems to be similar to a circle pad. However, it "moves along the bottom sphere." It also has haptic feedback that feels the same as Apple's "taptic" engine and has a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom.
