Urban Outfitters Opening Call Center in Georgia, Creating 400 Jobs

Up to as many as 400 jobs will be created by a new Urban Outfitters call center coming to Columbia County in east Georgia, offering some job relief for the area, according to reports.

 The company said in a statement that it expects to open the center with 200 initial hires by Aug. 1. Company officials say they expect to create 400 jobs within the next five years.

Urban Outfitters contact center Director Bryan Whitney says, "The Columbia County location will play a significant role in Urban Outfitters' goal of building a unique work environment where we can assemble a team that believes in creating a compelling and distinct experience for our customers."

The call center will be located in the 40,000 square foot vacant Mike Furniture located on the Bobby Jones Expressway.

Employees at the site will serve the retailer's "direct business" segment, fielding calls from customers placing orders and seeking similar customer service assistance, according to the report.
