Eight Things Successful People Don't Do In Their 30's

While 20s is usually the period in your life where you strive to find yourself, your 30s is where you take the time to establish your career and personal life. The Business Insider sorted through a variety of advice from Quora writers and author Mark Ronson's blog. Take a look at eight of the things successful people don't do in their 30s:

1. They are not lacking of purpose

"I learned that if you don't have your purpose, then make it your obsession in life to find it. It took me over a year, and I was completely disconnected from the rat race during that time. Don't stop until you've got it. You'll know when you have," designer Jack Sheu wrote on Quora.

2. They see to it that they don't neglect a financial foundation for future purposes

"Had I invested the money instead, I could have comfortably retired now (I am 44)," an anonymous poster wrote on Quora. It's never too late to save up for your future.

3. They don't really obsess and spend too much time thinking about the future

"Unless you are already dead - mentally, emotionally, and socially - you cannot anticipate your life five years into the future. It will not develop as you expect. So just stop it. Stop assuming you can plan far ahead, stop obsessing about what is happening right now because it will change anyway, and get over the control issue about your life's direction," a reader of Manson's blog named Thomas wrote.

4.Personal relationships are always a priority

"Don't just work. Make memories. The older you get, the harder it is to make meaningful relationships. Foster those while you're young," Microsoft designer Michael Dorian Bach wrote.

5. They don't ignore their parents and acknowledge that they are aging

"When I was 34 I hung up the phone on my dad in an argument and never returned his calls. Six months later he had a stroke and died. A week before that he had emailed me to say hello but I didn't return the email. I'm sorry, Dad," James Altucher, an entrepreneur and blogger, wrote.

6. They pay attention to their health

"Be healthy. That is priority No. 1. Don't get into your 30s being slow and tired all the time. It sucks," Bach said.

7. You don't need to be "ready to start a family

Although having children doesn't work for everyone, 30s is a great time to start with your own family.

8. They don't forget to have fun

May it just be a downtime at home with your loved-ones or a random road trip with old, fun always sounds good.
