Victoria's Secret Swimsuits Will No Longer Sell And Produce VS Swim, What It Means For Swimwear Makers And Job Cuts

What is your summer going to be like this year? Are you going to St. Barts and do what the celebrities do? Of course you're not going to forget your summer swim wear essentials. The adorable two-piece or the elegant one-piece. But are those the only two you have?

Maybe it's time to stock up on swimsuits because Life and Style has it that Victoria's Secret Swim will be halting production soon.

Get ready to say good-bye to that adorable neon bikinis and revealing swimwears. After being in the business for several years, Victoria's Secret is reportedly hanging up it's last swimsuit and close the door on swimwear operations forever. According to Buzzfeed News, the lingerie business is cutting away product categories that resulted in lower sales. The company blames the overly complex designs they have created for the decrease in sales since last August. According to Citi Analysts in a note to their clients, the Swim category has trended down these past few years and "...management believes store space will be better used for VS Sport."

What's going to happen to the operations and production segment of VS Swim? Victoria's Secret swimwear makers will shift its focus to their activewear line, instead. And Sun Times has it that the chain is also cutting off 200 jobs and will stop mailing out its product catalogs. The company plans to engage in brand-building programs instead.

Tweets have already scattered in social media sites from users that expressed their disbelief. One user sent out a Twitter post saying, "if it's true that Victoria's Secret won't be selling bathing suits after this year anymore I will cry."

What does this mean for other swimsuit makers? This can be their time to push their swimsuit categories in the market and dominate the playing field.
