Google Gets Beaten By AT&T and Comcast On Super-Fast Broadband

Before Google Fiber can bring its super-fast broadband service to Atlantic city, Comcast Corp and AT&T have already offered their 1 gigabit Internet speed that the search giant is only promising.

Clearly, the two telecom giants have beaten Google to the punch since they are already signing up new customers.

Google first announced its plan to lay out a fiber network that will compete with telephone companies and cable providers nearly six years ago. While competitors are battling for only four markets, they are lowering rates and building networks faster so that customers will not be induced to transfer to the search giant.

The Mountain View, CA-based company needs customer in order to build a super-fast internet speed so that it can sell more ads on its search engine, and this might be the primary reason why it is entering this arena.

It is important to have robust internet speed for today's internet users. With more than 1,000 megabits per second download and upload speeds, an internet user has more bandwidth than what he needs to run his devices and for every member of his family as well.

In short, with super-fast internet speed, there's so much more an internet user can do. He can download an HD movie in just two minutes, stream videos, TV shows and movies, and improve the internet experience of all the members of his family.

For businesses, video conferencing will be more enhanced and downloading and uploading files for use of the conference attendees will be done in a very fast clip.

Speaking of the search giant's strategy, Roger Entner said: "There's a lot more bark than bite." Entner is an analyst connected with Recon Analytics LLC.

Six years ago, 1 gigabit speed was still a novelty, but not now. Comcast and AT&T are now offering such speed which will enable users to stream 5 HD videos simultaneously, without buffering. In this aspect, Google has lagged behind.
