"Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin works the same way as Apple founder Steve Jobs. This may be the reason why the "Winds of Winter" release date is still not yet here.
In a report by Inc., it was noted how the "Song of Ice and Fire" author's work style is a "slow, steady, structured route." This has led to fans' frustrations over the ever-elusive "Winds of Winter" release date.
GRRM is not only known for being ruthless in killing off characters from his fantasy novel series. He is also notorious for taking a very long time in writing.
Last year, the "Game of Thrones" author even admitted that the popular HBO show has finally caught up with him. YHM reported that Martin did not think that "GoT" could eventually outrun him.
"The show, of course, has caught up to me, which I didn't actually think would ever happen," he revealed. "I had such a huge lead, but the truth is, I'm a very slow writer."
The "Winds of Winter" release date delay may be caused by Martin's creative process. His work style was even likened to that of Apple founder Steve Jobs.
"I have more ideas now than I could ever write up," Martin told Rolling Stone. "To my mind, it's the execution that is all-important. I'm proud of my work, but I don't know if I'd ever claim it's enormously original."
Inc. added that Steve Jobs' idea of craftsmanship in building a great product from a great idea still rings true in Apple today. "It waits until they're perfected to roll them out, and is willing to move back deadlines to do so," the website wrote.
There are speculations that the "Winds of Winter" release date may not happen this year but arrive next year, in 2017. KPZ also reported that an important character may die a brutal death in "WoW."
