Nintendo NX News: New Console Details To Be Announced At E3 2016?

Nintendo NX news may be announced at E3 2016. This may include new console de tails as well as its exact release date.

GameSpot reported that video game retailer GameStop is expecting new consoles. At the company's latest earnings briefing, COO Tony Bartel revealed that announcements may be made at E3 2016.

Although it's unclear whether the consoles will be the Nintendo NX, Xbox Two or PlayStation 4.5, there are rumors that new hardware is already in development. The devices may also be announced during the annual event.

"We expect E3 to focus on key titles in the back half of the year and console announcements," Bartel said. "We also expect VR to generate significant gaming consumer and press interest."

The GameStop COO also revealed that he is expecting their company to be a major player in the sales of VR headsets such as October's PlayStation VR. However, they are not basing any sales projections into its business outlook on the new consoles yet.

In Nintendo NX news by Nintendo Insider, GameStop executive vice president of strategic business and brand development Mike Hogan that the console could "generate $2.7 billion in incremental sales" in about two years. The company compared Wii U and Wii's sales performance for the same period of time at retail.

"Nintendo has confirmed that they will be introducing a new console in early 2017," Hogan said. "So let's take a look at the potential for just that one new console. Once again, we're not projecting. We are simply looking at the potential for the new console in comparison to prior consoles."

"Should it perform at even half of the level of the Wii, it would generated 7.5 billion units of incremental sales over that time frame. You can of course apply GameStop's market share to estimate the impact on GameStop's sales."

Hogan added that it's still too early to provide "definitive projections." They are said to be "monitoring the situation closely in terms of product availability and features, consumer awareness and purchase intent."
