Lucille Ball Dress Auction: Redhead's Iconic Polka-Dot Dress Sells for a Whopping $168,000! Why It Was So Valuable [VIDEO & REPORT]

Lucille Ball's polka-dot dress was sold for $168,000 last week at the Profiles of History auction, with the price surpassing predictions of between $40,000 - $60,000.

The dress worn by Lucille in the underrated 50's comedy show "I Love Lucy" wasn't the only thing that were up for auction that day. It also included some of the other memorabilia of the comedian as well as her husband's.

Apart from the Lucille Ball dress auction, according to the West Field Republican and Newsmax, the auction also put up Lucille Balls's red velvet dress for auction, which she wore in the musical Mame, her pink sequined costume from The Milton Berle Show's first episode, her Charlie Chaplin costume from one of The Lucy Show's episodes, a monogrammed sewing case along with her collection of two clear glass ashtrays from her Beverly Hills home, a mounted 1956 TV Stage magazine and an original 1946 movie poster of Two Smart People starring Lucille Ball and John Hodiak.

Apart from Ball's memorabilia, other items were also sold including the late Sopranos star James Gandolfini's costume for $22,000 and a few selected costumes from The Sound of Music for $1.3 million.

I Love Lucy was nominated for numerous Emmy Awards during its run. These awards include a 1956 win for Ball as Best Actress - Continuing Performance, 1954 for Vivian Vance for Best Supporting Actress as well as one more for Best Situational Comedy in 1953.

Lucille Ball was considered one of the best during her time, standing alone as having a unique sense of comedy that couldn't be replicated by anyone else. She was also a model and a studio executive. She continues to be remembered even after her death.

She passed away in 1989 of a dissecting aortic aneurysm.
