Kohei Horikoshi who is the mangaka behind the successful "My Hero Academia" franchise is set to be making his first ever public appearance this coming December. Fans are speculating that he is announcing something big at the Jump Festa 2017 event.
The 29-year-old mangaka does not prefer public appearances. He managed to make a television appearance last January 2016, however, Horikoshi wore a gas mask during the full length of the interview. In the upcoming Jump Festa 2017, he said that he will make his very first public appearance and that the mask will be off.
According to a report by Crunchy Roll, he will be joining two of the "My Hero Academia" voice actors during the event. He said, "I have thought this is a kind of job I don't need to appear before the public. But I have decided (to join) because I received advice from great people that I should. I will try not to bother the voice actors."
Due to this, fans are speculating that he will finally announce the renewal of the animated version of "My Hero Academia" which is already slated for a second season. Fans will have to hold their breath on this said announcement.
In another news, a live action movie is said to be in the works for "My Hero Academia." According to Chatt Sports Net, Kengo Monji who is the editor of the Weekly Shonen Jump seems excited and very much interested in the concept. However, he considered the cost of making large-scale action scenes and CGI as an expensive matter.
Furthermore, the Jump Fest 2017 is on December 17 and 18 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture. "My Hero Academia" is scheduled to take the "Super Stage" from 1:30 PM to 2:10 PM on the second day.
