‘Jumanji 2’ Updates: Movie Facing Cancellation; Project Delayed For Another Year?

Everyone who grew up during the 90's is excited about the news of a sequel to the cult classic film "Jumanji." But after facing yet another disappointing release delay, should fans be worried that the whole project is facing cancellation?

According to Game N Guide, "Jumanji 2" had a December 25, 2016, release in initial. That date was placed on the backburner and was pushed to a July 28, 2017, release. And if that was not bad enough Dwayne Johnson AKA "The Rock" recently announced that the movie will yet suffer another delay in the project. This time giving it another whole year for a Christmas release next year.

Dwayne Johnson had this to say according to news site University Herald, "We were always slated to be released summer of 2017, but after months of shooting and editing our movie together, we realized we have a big family franchise on our hands, that's full of Christmas wish fulfillment, fun and heart." He went on to say that he feels like "Jumanji 2" is better off as a Christmas movie than a summer release.

Some fans have speculated that there could be trouble brewing behind the scenes. With "The Rock" not new to getting into backstage feuds both in the WWE and apparently on the set of "Fast 8" with fellow actor Vin Diesel plus the fact that he is busy with other projects according to Jobs & Hire. This could lead to the conclusion that the movie's less than smooth sailing could lead to the entire project sinking.

But since Dwyane Johnson has his buddy Kevin Hart as his sidekick in the movie. It is less likely any infighting is occurring. Add the fact that the film is already midway through production and has spent some money on marketing it on social media leads many to believe that the project will push through and is just looking to capitalize on the Christmas season which was their original intention. Hopefully, "Jumanji 2" will hit its new release date and everyone can finally have the sequel to such a great classic.
