Fans are ecstatic when the trailer of "A Series Of Unfortunate Events" got out. Lemony Snicket's novel will finally hit the screens once more but as a Netflix TV series which is expected to air in 2017. The TV adaptation would deviate from the 2004 movie but fans seem unhappy of Neil Patrick Harris portraying the role of Count Olaf. Is Jim Carrey a much better fit?
The trailer got out recently and is nearly about 3 minutes long but it gave hints on what fans should expect from Netflix's "A Series Of Unfortunate Events."Game N Guide even referred to the TV adaptation's style as a mix of JK Rowling and Tim Burton's works as seen on its trailers' dark and gloomy ambiance.
Movie Pilot confirmed that the Netflix's "A Series Of Unfortunate Events" will be a complete overhaul compared to its movie adaption in 2004. Jim Carrey starred in that movie along with Jude Law, Meryl Streep and Emily Browning but critics said that the whole movie needed more emphasis.
Lemony Snicket's book series has some specific key elements that compressing it to make a movie isn't enough. The movie lacked depth in showcasing the sufferings and grief of the Baudelaire kids, following the tragic demise of their parents and their experiences at the hands of Count Olaf.
With Netflix's "A Series Of Unfortunate Events" coming out on Jan. 13, 2017, it will be able to portray Snicket's style of tragic storytelling with a mix of comedy. The TV adaptation would be darker compared to its movie counterpart.
But one thing that fans are also ranting about is Harris' portrayal of Count Olaf. Many people think that the "How I Met Your Mother" actor isn't a perfect fit for the series. A lot of fans are now thinking that Jim Carrey should have played the part.
It's still an argument if Harris' would be a much better Count Olaf than Carrey. For now, fans just need to celebrate the good news of Netflix's "A Series Of Unfortunate Events" hitting the TV screens next year.
