There is now an official announcement that the thrilling cycling anime "Yowamushi Pedal" will have its third season. The latest installment of the series will be titled "Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation". The anime's third season is slated to air this coming January next year.
The third season will be the direct continuation of the previous two seasons and the live-action film that was released in August 2016. The story will start off after the event where the seniors from the Sōhoku High School have already graduated.
As per the usual set up the cycling club will have to start recruiting new members and the second years will now become the leaders of the club. With this in mind we can expect that one or two new characters will be introduced come season 3.
"Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation" that is based from the manga series written and illustrated by Wataru Watanabe, will still revolve around our small but terrible Otaku, Sakamichi Onoda of Sōhoku High School. His passion for anime and games never stopped him from riding his bicycle a 90 kilometer roundtrip over extreme and rough terrain just to get to the center of anime culture in Tokyo's Akihabara district.
However, Sakamichi's discreet Otaku lifestyle is turned upside down when he was involved with entire Sōhoku High School cycling team. With the persuasion of his friends, he later then join the club to experience the thrill of bicycle racing.
According to Discotek Media, the official website has released informations about the returning cast members and characters for "Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation". Among the returning voice actors are Daiki Yamashita as Sakamichi Onoda, Kousuke Toriumi as Shunsuke Imaizumi, Jun Fukushima as Shōkichi Naruko, Daisuke Kishio as Junta Teshima, and Yoishitsugu Matsuoka as Hajime Aoyagi.
Reports also say that team Sōhoku will have new first year members which are Issa Kaburagi and Ryuhō Dankichi that be joining their cycling adventure. That is to be expected as the third season title says "New Generation". There are no further announcement regarding the actors that will voice the new characters.
