Tennis News & Updates: Novak Djokovic, Johanna Konta Split With Coaches

It looks like the relationships of tennis players with their coaches today are comparable with Hollywood romances with break-up endings. The same is true for World No. 2 player Novak Djokovic and Brtish WTA player Johanna Konta.

After adding 6 more Grandslam titles to Djokovic's already impressive record, Coach Boris Baker and Novak Djokovic parted ways Tuesday. Their partnership ended after three fruitful years. "After three very successful years, Boris Becker and I have jointly decided to end our cooperation," the Serbian explained on his website. "The goals we set when we started working together have been completely fulfilled, and I want to thank him for the cooperation, teamwork, dedication and commitment", he added.

Djokovic has won the Australian Open and the French Open this year. It can be noted though that he has slowed-down for the second half of the year. He lost in the third round to Sam Querry in Wimbledon; bowed down to comeback kid Juan Martin del Potro in Rio Olympics then suffered a loss to Stan Wawrinka in the US Open final.

Djokovic surrendered his World Number One ranking to Andy Murray this November. After not winning any major since July, Djokovic was dethroned from the top post after 122 weeks. In an article from Jobs & Hire, it can be recalled that the Serb is still very motivated to win more titles after tying the record of being the 7th to win the most Grandslam in Open Era.

Meanwhile, British WTA World Number 10 Johanna Konta also ended her partnership with her coach Estaban Carril. In a report from Yahoo Sports, the Spanish tennis trainer is "no longer working for Konta" but added no more.

Konta has an amazing breakthrough story this year after reaching career peek Number 10, the first British women to do so after 32 years. She managed to climb the leader board from ranked 147 in just a year.
