Prince Harry’s Girlfriend Meghan Markle Talks Racism and Biracial Issues With Essay, Shares Painful Childhood Experience

All eyes are indeed set on Meghan Markle, especially after her romantic relationship with Prince Harry of England was made public. However, as their romance blossoms, more and more criticisms and racism are also bound to strike the "Suits" actress.

Racism is never new to Markle as she grew up with such around, as per Mirror's report. In fact, in her essay published in Elle's Magazine, the 35-year old actress wrote about how she deals with racist comments on her skin color.

Meghan's father is Caucasian whilst her mom is an African-American, thus, her complexion. In her powerful write up she shared a painful childhood experience where she recalled her mother being called the "N" word and that most people mistaken her as Meghan's nanny.

Markle also knew of the trolls and offensive comments people make online especially with her role as Rachel Zane in her legal drama "Suits" along with her being a biracial. One particular moment she shared was when a tweet questioned why her dad a black with comments that range from "She's not black" to "ew, she's black?" followed by someone saying they thought she was hot.

Aside from such, USA Today also revealed some of Markle's struggles in the entertainment industry written in her essay. According to her, she could hardly find a role due to her being in the middle saying she's not too dark for black roles and not to white to assume a white girl's role. The "Suits" is said to be her career's Goldilocks as a television actress.

Meanwhile, Meghan didn't mention any detail on her royal love affair with Prince Harry in her essay. It is remembered that weeks after they finally went out as a couple, the royal palace released a statement on how Prince Harry's girlfriend faces series of harsh comments, trolls and offensive accounts due to her race. The statement also reads that the royal highness is worried and disappointed as he could not be her knight in shining armor in such terrible times.
