Unions Against Donald Trump: Employees Push The U.S. President-elect Into An Agreement

Donald Trump's hotel employees succeeded in pushing the U.S. president-elect into an agreement. The deal would ensure that hundreds of employees at the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas won in securing several benefits from Trump's hotel.

The battle between Trump's hotel and his employees went on for more than a year before the two parties decided to enter into an agreement to resolve the issue. The Washington Post reported that the agreement will give Trump hotel employees wage hikes, a pension and family healthcare and other benefits.

The National Labor Relations Review Board agreed to help Trump's hotel employees in pushing the president-elect's company into an agreement. The agreement marks a win for the working class, with Trump reportedly against giving the employees the benefits they ask for.

The agreement between Trump's hotel and the employees would allow the employees to form a union that would help them ask for changes in the future. The Los Angeles Times reported that a lot of the union members are of Latino, and most of them are happy with the outcome of the fight. Jobs & Hire previously reported Trump entered into a different agreement with the air conditioning company Carrier that resulted in 1,000 jobs being retained in the U.S.

Trump refused to allow the hotel workers to unionize even though about 500 workers expressed willingness to do so. Trump's presidential victory in November cast a cloud over the future of the hotel employees' fight as it could mean that he might use his power as U.S. president to exert pressure on his staff.

Analysts and experts believe that Trump agreed to settle with the hotel employees in order to remove the problem before he takes the seat as president.
