Royal News: Prince William To Leave Career As Air Ambulance Pilot

Prince William is making a big shift in his career, leaving his job with the East Anglian Air Ambulance and going full time with his royal role.

Beginning this summer, the Duke of Cambridge is giving his time to fulfill his royal duties, The Times reported. His wife, Kate Middleton and their two royal children, George and Charlotte, will move with him to the Kensington Palace in autumn.

The decision comes amid the criticisms against the prince that he has been reluctant on doing more official royal duties than he currently does. In his defense, Prince William said he takes his responsibilities "very seriously."

While Prince William would be expected to do more royal work when he left his pilot career, sources said his functions would not make him overshadow his father. Prince Charles is the next in line to the throne. Princess Anne is also presumed to take on more duties as usual when Queen Elizabeth, 90, and Prince Philip, 95, cut back on their royal engagement.

It is not surprising that Prince William is making such as career decision, as reported by Vanity Fair. As a member of the royal family, the duke has to shift his focus to the royal responsibilities. Still, the 34-year-old prince expressed how he feels about quitting as an air ambulance pilot.

"I know he has really loved living in Norfolk and being just one of the lads at work. He loves the banter," a royal source told The Times. "He will really miss the flying. He does love it," another one added.

Prince William took the job with the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service in 2015. He spent 7.5 years in military service before that. Prince George and Princess Charlotte would be attending school in London when they moved from Anmer Hall.
