The Most Honest City According To Reader’s Digest

Recently, Readers Digest dropped 192 wallets in 19 cities to find out if who among those was the most honest. The said experiment intends to find out if which among the city will return the wallets.

To do it, they inserted in the wallet the mobile phone number, family picture, coupons and business card so that the one who can pick it up will know where to return. They also included $50, depending on the currency of the country.

They then left 12 wallets in each chosen city, in areas such as super market, mall, parks, sidewalk, and even in subway. It will be counted then depending on how many wallets will be recovered.

Results shows that Helsinki, Finland have the greatest number of wallet returned with 11 out of 12. It was followed by Mumbai India with 9 wallets out of 12. The following are the results after the top two most honest cities.

Budapest, Hungary and New York, USA have a tie result with 8 wallets out of 12. Another tie breaking result are Moscow, Russia and Amsterdam, Netherland with 7 wallets out of 12.

 On the fifth slot are Berlin, Germany and Ljubljana, Slovenia with six wallets out of 12.

 On the sixth spot are London England and Warsaw, Poland with 5 wallets out of 12.

The three cities scored on the seventh place such as Bucharest Romania, Rio de Janeiro Brazil and Zurich Switzerland with 4 out of 12.

On the eight placed is Prague, Czech Republic with 3 wallets out of 12.

On the nine spot belongs to Madrid Spain with 2 wallets out of 12.

And on the tenth is Lisbon Portugal with 1 wallet out of 12.

Reader Digest tallied 90 wallets returned out of 192, which is approximately 47% of the total percentage.
