Apple Releases Special Edition Red iPhone 7 And 7 Plus

Apple’s 10th anniversary iPhone release is scheduled to take place later this year, and fans cannot wait to get their hands on the new iPhone 8. However, the Cupertino-based company surprised fans by releasing the special edition iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, and tech watchers are thrilled to see that the iconic device comes in a vibrant red color.

According to Apple’s official press release, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus RED Special Edition was released in recognition of more than 10 years of partnership between the company and Product Red, a licensed brand that seeks to engage the private sector in raising awareness and funds to help eliminate HIV and AIDS in Africa.

By purchasing the crimson iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, customers are given the opportunity to contribute to the Global Fund as Apple and RED aim to bring the world closer to an AIDS-free generation.

In a statement, Apple CEO Tim Cook said, “The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest (PRODUCT) RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (RED), and we can’t wait to get it into customers’ hands.”

While Apple is getting ready to sell the special edition device, tech fans can’t wait to own the vibrant phone as this is the first time that the iPhone was released in such a bold color. Typically, the iPhone comes in silver, gold, rose gold, matte black, and shiny jet black, so the red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are welcome additions to the company’s product lineup.

According to Business Insider, the special iPhones also come with a different price. The red iPhone 7 starts at $750, while the red iPhone 7 Plus starts at $870. Both are at least $100 more than the base price of the other iPhone 7 models. The media outlet reports that the reason for the price hike is due to the fact that the red iPhone 7 is only available in the 128GB and 256GB options.

The red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be available in stores and online starting Friday, March 24.
