The television host Ellen DeGeneres awarded a waitress with $10,000 and a 50-inch flat screen TV after she paid the check of two soldiers affected by the government shutdown, who couldn't pay for their lunch.
Last week, Sara Hoildahl, a 21 years old single mother, was serving customers at a restaurant in Concord, New Hampshire, when two National Guard soldiers entered the restaurant and sat on her section.
Sara overheard the conversation of the two female soldiers about not being paid due to the government shutdown, so she decided to do her good act of the day.
"Thanks to the government shutdown the people like you that protect this country are not getting paid, however I still am. Lunch is on me thank you for serving ladies! Have a good day!" the two soldiers read in a note Sara gave to them instead of the bill.
Afterwards, Ellen noticed a picture posted on Facebook by the New Hampshire National Guard that went viral. This way, Sara was invited to join Ellen's show.
"DeGeneres presented the waitress with $27.75 in cash and a check for $10,000. She also threw in a top-of-the-range flat screen television for good measure, and presumably so that Hoidahl can watch her show" informed the Inquisitr.
