Kohl's Shooting & Wild Chase for Shoplifters During Kohl's Sale Lead to Charging of 2 Men by Police on Black Friday [+ VIDEO REPORT]

A Kohl's shooting happened Friday when police found out that there were shoplifters trying to penetrate a Kohl's store in Romeoville. According to the Inquisitr, the Kohl's store manager prompted the authorities about the shoplifters given the number of shoppers flocking the store for the Black Friday deals they were offering.

The Kohl's shooting apparently took place on Thursday since unlike the previous years, the store was opened since Thursday evening to take advantage of the diminished number of days prior to Christmas.

ABC Local reported that a police officer shot a man while another officer got injured during the wild chase for the alleged shoplifters. However, later on a Gerald Chamberlain was charged with theft while a Robert Russell was charged with retail theft, attempted murder, and obstructing an officer. Additionally, an unnamed third individual, who is said to the 52-year-old driver, is currently hospitalized.

Local reports stated that upon the arrival of the police officers at the Kohl's store at around 10 p.m., they saw one of the men running towards the front door. The Romeoville police then chased him while he was trying to get away as fast as he could, only to jump into a Pontiac Sunfire in the parking lot, complicating the chase even more.

However, one of the police officers was very determined such that he attempted to jump into the car as well, but the man had closed the door of the vehicle on the arm of the officer, which led to a very disturbing setup next.

Police said Friday that the driver dragged the trapped officer albeit he was not technically inside the car. One of the officers decided to warn the driver to stop the car multiple times but the car kept going until the officer decided to aim at the driver and fire three to four shots, striking the shoulder area of the driver, which led him to stop the car.

"We then were able to arrest the driver and the passenger and arrested the third subject, who was still inside the store," Romeoville Police Chief Mark Turvey said.

Meanwhile, a witness to the Kohl's shooting incident, Phil Koster, said, "Definitely not something I expected tonight. [I was] just doing some light shopping, trying to get in the Black Friday spirit, buy a few things. A little shaken up, not bad or anything. I was within five feet of everything happening. It was very surreal."

The driver, who is currently hospitalized is yet to be charged, police said, adding no shoppers and other individuals got injured or involved in the shooting at Kohl's store in time for the Black Friday shopping madness.
