'Betty White found dead in a friend's bathtub' is probably the craziest news that is making rounds in the Internet as of late. For one thing, the comedian-actress is not only alive, but she is not even ailing or seriously ill for that matter.
What's surprising though is that the 'Betty white found dead' news originally published by eBuzzd.com somehow crept its way to social media, and many concerned fans right away shared the write-up without confirming the truth.
Now, several media outlets are slamming the report as another celebrity hoax, victimizing Hollywood celebs and famous personalities.
Not only that, fans and concerned netizens are denouncing the false report which claimed that 92-year-old Betty White was found dead of unknown causes in a friend's bathtub.
DudleyMediaGroup which also featured the Betty White death hoax said that the occurrence of these false reports on Facebook has been very alarming.
"This is getting to be quite an alarming occurrence on Facebook, people writing fake and misleading stories that do not have any newsworthiness to them. This is getting to be a form of madness in getting your name or article to get popular or cause hysteria. Whatever happened to honesty in news or am I just kidding myself? I am pretty much about to write off Facebook completely and I can't help but feel this is not only a Facebook event."
Meanwhile, some fans commented on About.com, which also featured eBuzzd.com's death hoax.
"Outraged that such an article would be written. The gall of some people," one fan named Stephen wrote.
"I agree. It's ridiculous the things ppl will write!!! I love Betty white and almost cried when I saw it on fb. Then I google it to find this article. So glad she's alive," another named Hollie wrote.
Betty White joins a long list of celebrities victimized by death hoax sites such as Media Mass and Global Associated News. Other famous celebs who reportedly died according circulating hoaxes include: Blake Lively, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Will Smith, and many more.
