Ultimate Fighting Championship women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will defend her title against Alexis Davis at UFC 175 on July 5 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
After winning in her title defense against Sara McMann in February, Rousey was expected to take a break due to her movie commitments, but she reportedly demanded for another fight soon.
UFC president Dana White said in an interview with MMA Junkie that Rousey herself called him and demanded for a fight, which led to the upcoming Rousey-Davis UFC 175 showdown.
White said that he was not surprised with Rousey's decision to fight again in a fast turnaround from her last fight, saying that Rousey is the type of fighter who doesn't want to rest.
"Ronda called me and said, 'I want to fight.' She wants to stay busy, she wants to keep fighting. If you tell her she can't fight she'll tell you, F-k you, I want to fight," White said.
White had an interesting take on Rousey's passion for competition, saying that 27-year-old MMA star reminds him of Chuck Liddell, whom he said is one of his favorite MMA superstars all-time. Like Rousey, White said that Liddell has proven before that he is ready to fight anyone at any time.
"Ronda is my new Chuck Liddell," White said. "Seriously. She's my new Chuck Liddell. She will fight anybody, anywhere, anytime. She wants to fight, so she'll fight back-to-back, she'll fight on 24 hours' notice - she's the new Chuck Liddell."
Rousey, who will put her unblemished 9-0 MMA and 3-0 UFC card on the line, had a short work in her recent title defense, scoring a first-round TKO victory against McMann at UFC 170. Rousey needed 66 seconds to retain her title, while also scoring her first non-submission victory.
Before winning against McMann, Rousey scored an impressive third-round win over Miesha Tate at UFC 168 in December last year, 10 months after submitting Liz Carmouche in her UFC debut.
Rousey, who will appear on the "Entourage" movie, is expected to be a heavy favorite over Davis, who is coming off five straight victories, including three UFC fights.
