As part of its efforts to boost the hype for the upcoming "Dragon Quest XI," development studio Square Enix recently released screenshots from the game's PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS versions.

Although the two platforms rely on different game engines and development procedures, Techno Buffalo noted that the game for Sony's next-gen console and Nintendo's handheld gaming device look equally stunning.

For the PlayStation 4 version, Square Enix was able to develop a detailed game environment using the Unreal Engine 4. In addition, unlike previous titles from the "Dragon Quest" franchise, the upcoming game features a different camera configuration.

Instead of the traditional first-person view, "Dragon Quest XI" utilizes a third-person perspective with movable camera angles.

In the Nintendo 3DS version, Square Enix maintained the same chibi-like animation featured in previous titles. Despite not being made with Unreal Engine 4, the 3DS version still provides crisp graphic quality and a very detailed environment.

The studio has not yet announced the exact release date of "Dragon Quest XI" but the company is targeting to release in sometime in 2016 for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS platforms.

According to a report by Gearnuke, Square Enix is preparing to produce five million copies of "Dragon Quest XI" for its release. If the game's launch is a success, then it could significantly boost the studio's operating profit.

But aside from the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS consoles, various news sites reported in July that Square Enix is also developing a version of the game for the NX, Nintendo's mysterious and unreleased gaming console. This was confirmed through an official press release from an executive of the company.

"'Dragon Quest XI,' which we announced today, as well as 'Dragon Quest X,' which I'm working as a producer, are planned for release on the NX, which Nintendo is currently developing," studio producer Yosuke Saito said according to Kotaku.

Since details regarding the upcoming platform are still vague, there is still no way of telling how the game will look or operate on the NX. But the game for the NX will probably come out shortly after the console officially debuts in 2016.
