Rumors regarding the Apple Watch 2 has been floating around for a few months now, with some reports suggesting that its debut is expected around Jun. 13-17.
According to MacRumors, an analyst of Wall Street firm Drexel Hamilton Brian White filed a research report from China where he's currently touring technology firms and manufacturing facilities, claiming that the next version of the smart watch will be 40% thinner than its predecessor.
White also stated that the Apple Watch 2 is expected to be unveiled this summer during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
White hinted that the Apple Watch 2 won't make it till iPhone 7's release date, saying, "We left with the sense that the Apple Watch refresh will not occur in September with the iPhone 7, but is more likely to occur within the next 2-3 months, and thus we believe an unveiling at WWDC in June makes sense."
"We believe Apple Watch 2 could be 20 to 40 percent thinner than the current Apple Watch," he added.
Aside from the thinness of the Apple Watch 2, a report from Yibada suggested that the upcoming smart watch will feature an exceptional new modular smart brand that will deliver outstanding functionality, and will include a GPS receiver, a wireless charging battery, built-in FaceTime camera and expanded WiFi capabilities.
The smart watch is also expected to be less reliant on the iPhone, which suggests that users would be able to work out the apps without the need to pair with a smartphone.
According to AppleInsider, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the next generation Apple Watch would feature "spec improvements with limited changes to form factor design". Although Kuo didn't give much details on the types of spec improvements, it is believed that the Apple Watch 2 will be much faster and will have an improved battery life.
