"Thor: Ragnarok" is definitely taking a more definitive form as casting news and plot details begin to surface. More recently, sources confirm that Karl Urban has completed filming for his role as Skurge.
Urban has the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Skurge, otherwise known as The Executioner. He is one of Thor's most formidable foes since he is gifted with enhanced Asgardian abilities and wields a magical double-bladed battle axe.
In "Thor: Ragnarok," Skurge is just one of the two main villains confirmed for the third "Thor" film. It is presumed that Skurge is working alongside Cate Blanchett's Hela.
In an interview with Comicbook, the 44-year-old "Star Trek" actor shared that he was drawn to the movie because, among other reasons, he wants to work with Taika Waititi, the director for "Thor: Ragnarok."
"So, the coolest thing about Skurge? I think is probably his journey through the film," Urban adds. "There's change and there's - he finishes the film in a different place than he starts and, as an actor, that's always something you look for."
This revelation sparked theories that his character's arc might not be that far from the comics, where he later sacrificed himself in order to help the good side. In "Thor" #362, when Thor led the forces of Asgard to Hel, they needed someone to defend the bridge back to Asgard. Skurge volunteered and the rest is history.
Urban wrapped up filming in Sept. 29. He took to Twitter to express his gratitude to the "Thor: Ragnarok" cast and crew.
"That's a wrap for Skurge!! Big Thanks [Taika Waititi], [Marvel] and the amazing cast n crew. So much Fun!" the actor tweeted.
Urban is one of the A-list additions to "Thor: Ragnarok". "Jurassic Park" actors Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill are joining the show. Goldblum is set to play The Grandmaster - a member of the Elders of the Universe - who is highly intelligent and previously possessed The Mind Stone. Neill's character, on the other, is kept under wraps although it is rumored that he might also portray an Elder in the film.
"Thor: Ragnarok" hits theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
