Nintendo is making the Power Line, its classic customer service system, available for three days. This is in line with the company's launch of its NES Classic Edition, as Nintendo aims to go full retro.
According to Kotaku, Nintendo said the Power Line would be available on Friday, November 11 until Sunday, November 13. The customer service system will be available from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. PST each day.
The original Power Line was developed in the '80s to connect fans and players to the Nintendo Game Play Counselors. The counselors provide tricks and tips to players who are stuck in the games that they were playing.
The new Power Line will be fully automated, and players will be able to use their real-life phones to hear the recorded tips for several of NES Classic Edition's games. Players will just have to dial (425) 885-7529 to hear the recorded tips and some behind-the-scene stories from original Nintendo Game Play Counselors.
IGN reports that the launch of the Power Line is in line with the NES Classic Edition's launching. This is Nintendo's way of celebrating the release of its classic game console.
Nintendo plans to go full retro with the NES Classic. Visitors to Nintendo's New York stores will have the chance to participate in activities during the retro 80s-themed launch event.
The first 250 visitors to the store will even have the opportunity to play classic NES games, participate in a retro Nintendo game show and take part in a costume contest. The visitors will just have to dress as their favorite Nintendo characters.
Nintendo of America's senior VP of sales and marketing Doug Bowser said that a lot of them "have fond and wonderful memories of the original NES. "With these launch activities for the NES Classic Edition, we want to replicate the nostalgic feelings of sitting down and playing the NES with your family for the first time."
