DeMarcus Cousins is one of the most talked-about big man in the league today, not only for his talents but also for his hot-tempered nature. The Sacrament Kings are struggling to get some wins this season and critics say that Boogie could be the thorn in the flesh of the franchise. NBA trade rumors are now spreading that letting Cousins go is the answer. Will the Los Angeles Lakers grab the opportunity of getting him?
In a report by Sports Illustrated, Cousins is referred to as a stranded star who might need some saving. Despite his prolific scoring and defensive abilities on the court, his temper appears to prevent him in maximizing his full potential thus affecting his team's success as well. TNT commentator Shaquille O'Neal even expressed that Cousins is the problem and this gave room to NBA trade rumors.
O'Neal commented on Cousins' lack of leadership for the team during a TNT halftime show according to Yahoo Sports. "He's been hot-headed," O'Neal said, "He hasn't shown great leadership qualities yet." The hall of famer expressed to his fellow analysts, Reggie Miller and Kenny Smith, that if the team wants to win, Cousins should be a leader.
The discussion ended with O'Neal saying, "That's why I'm hearing of talk of, if things don't start to become correct, then they may be looking to go in a different direction." NBA trade rumors have it that the Kings letting Cousins go is the solution.
One possible destination for Cousins is the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are having a good run to start the season and might have a good chance of getting into the playoffs this year. It would be a fresh start for him to work alongside young talents like D'Angelo Russel and Jordan Clarkson.
Lakers head coach Luke Walton might be the solution for Boogie's frustrations. Walton's success in bringing a competitive atmosphere to a young Lakers team might bring positive vibes to Cousins too.
These are but NBA trade rumors and no official statements have been announced from both teams. But if looks like both Cousins and the Kings front office are on the same page of wanting a trade.
