With the announcement of Marvel Studio's Phase Three including movie titles like "Captain America: Civil War," "Doctor Strange," "Avengers: Infinity War," "Captain Marvel" and "Inhumans," Marvel is catapulting itself into a lot of momentum for their superhero themed films.
While other movies are reaping success here and there, "Inhumans" seem to be stagnant and overshadowed by the other popular films. The title is also pulled off from its scheduled release this year. Other reports say that it will never be a movie.
Supposed to hit the theatres earlier this year, "Inhumans" have remained on the dark side. However, Marvel Televisions announced that the title will not be released as a movie but as a television series that will air on ABC next year.
Just like "Game of Thrones," the new TV series will premier its initial episodes in IMAX theatres for two weeks in September. It will be followed by a major TV release by fall of next year.
Premiering on one of the biggest screens on the world will set the bar to the highest for viewers. This would normally be impossible unless the series will be a next big thing. However, not satisfying the viewers will have a bad effect. Putting "Inhumans" in IMAX theatres is a huge gamble that will either make or break the show.
The plot still remains a mystery but looking back to Marvel Studios previous release, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will show something that we can base our speculations on. In the second of season of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", Agent Coulson encountered evolved human beings that carried alien DNA who called themselves inhumans. Coincidence? Though there are no confirmations that the show will be directly relevant to this storyline, I'm betting that they are somehow connected.
This is not the first time a TV show has been featured on big screens. However, it is undeniable that a series like "Inhumans" premiering in theatres to encourage viewers to tune in every week is innovative and amazing.
