Marijuana or cannabis has the scientific name of Cannabis sativa and has psychoactive effects attributed with the herb's component called tetrahydrocannabinol. It generates euphoria in both physical and mental aspect and it can be used through smoking, added with food, vaporization, and as a concentrated extract.

Cannabis could be used recreationally and medicinally. In the 20th century almost most countries have enacted laws and regulations against the cultivation, possession or transfer of cannabis, however, there are some regions wherein handling of cannabis is licensed and legal. According to Pewresearch, currently the share of Americans who favor legalizing marijuana continues to increase. Today 57% of U.S adults say the use of marijuana should be made legal, while 37% say it should be made illegal.

The changes in the public opinion on the legalization of marijuana have occurred during the time when many U.S states are very open on the legalization of the herb. In the month of June, Ohio became the 25th state together with Washington DC, Guam, and Puerto Rico to legalize marijuana in some form after a medical marijuana program was signed into law.

However, the legalization of marijuana started under the democrats with Mr. Obama now that the republicans have regained the throne what would be the future of marijuana under President Donald Trump? Based on a survey conducted, Democrats' votes legalizing marijuana over having it illegal is 66% vs. 33% whereas for republicans almost 55% oppose marijuana legalization while 41% favoring it. With the result of the Republicans' survey could Trump stop the legalization of pot?

A report from Time revealed that trying to stop and undo the legalization of the herb at this point would result to serious economic and political hurdles. There are reasons wherein the dismantling of the legalization of marijuana is not possible. Waging a war on pot would go against the will of many voters. In November 2016, voters in eight states cast their ballots for some form of marijuana legalization. That means that medical marijuana is now legal in twenty-eight states and recreational marijuana is legal in eight, including the most populated state, California.

Trump said that he supports medical marijuana . In some conferences before, he mentioned that all drugs should be legalized in order to stop the businesses of the opportunistic black markets and be able to collect money that could be used instead in counseling the people about the use of drugs and medicines. Legalization of Marijuana does not seem to be the President's list of priorities. In social media, Trump's Twitter account feed does not even show any tweet  of the word marijuana as compared to more than one hundred tweets regarding of the word immigration. Furthermore, the extent of federal government's authority over these matters is unclear.

The future of the most controversial herb Marijuana or Cannabis under the republican government is yet to be revealed. The most important thing in considering the full legalization of marijuana is to have a deep grasp of the herb's pharmacologic status and psychoactive properties. Many believe that it could be a treatment for cancer and other tumors but no one knows its toxic effects. 'Marijuana could be a treatment now but destruction in the future'. Meanwhile, life-threatening Smallpox virus was again spotted in Lithuania. Get the full story and Click Here.
