With Oscars 2017 approaching in February and the nominees to be announced very soon, it’s time we look at some female Academy Award winners and their successful side jobs.

Cate Blanchett

Multi nominee and two-time Academy Award winner, Cate Blanchett, has another job aside from being an actor. She is also a theater director.

She and her husband, Andrew Upton, worked as Creative Directors for the Sydney Theater Company in Australia. Among the work she did as director was overseeing production, promoting the theater company, and preparing the performance lineup for the year.

Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore, born as Julie Anne Smith, has been nominated five times for an Oscar and won for her role as Doctor Alice Howland in the movie that shed light on Alzheimer’s disease, “Still Alice.” When not playing roles in films and receiving Oscar nods, she also writes children’s books.

She has authored the best-selling book called “Freckleface Strawberry” and the numerous follow-ups in the series. The most recent one was published last year and is entitled “Freckleface Strawberry and The Really Big Voice.”

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow won an Oscar for her role as Viola de Lesseps in “Shakespeare in Love.” She is also known for her role as Pepper Potts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Her side jobs involve writing cookbooks such as “My Father’s Daughter” and “It’s All Good” as well as being a lifestyle guru slash entrepreneur for her blog called Goop. The latter publishes some fashion, travel, home, food, and health recommendations for people to take up.

The women discussed above may not be the main subject of the Oscar 2017 talks and predictions, but they are the leading ladies in this article. Acting is not all that they do but they also took the time to use their other skills in other job areas.
