Chelsea Clinton is having quite a great week. Shortly after announcing her children’s book, the former first daughter has been named as one of the directors of online travel site Expedia.
According to the New York Post, Expedia appointed the 37-year-old to its board, and the online travel site is said to have increased the number of its directors from 13 to 14 in order to accommodate Clinton.
Expedia is controlled by billionaire businessman Barry Diller. Clinton is also a director of another company that Diller controls, IAC/InterActiveCorp.
While the company did not disclose how much Clinton would be paid, it was reported that non-employee directors each earned $250,000 in 2015, and the most recent compensation is at $295,000. The Guardian reports that Clinton receives $300,000 in a mix of stock and cash each year for serving as IAC’s director.
The Expedia appointment comes after it was announced that Clinton will be releasing a children’s book titled “She Persisted.” The picture book is a callback to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s defense after the senate silenced Senator Elizabeth Warren while she was critiquing then-Senator Jeff Sessions and his nomination for attorney general.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the illustrated book will tell the stories of 13 women who overcame immense opposition. “She Persisted” will feature Harriet Tubman, Helen Keller, Nellie Bly, Maria Tallchief, Claudette Colvin, Clara Lemlich, Ruby Bridges, Margaret Chase Smith, Sally Ride, Florence Griffith Joyner, Oprah Winfrey, and Sonia Sotomayor. Also included is a former secretary of state and 2016 presidential candidate who happens to be the author’s mother—Hillary Clinton.
Apart from her brand new book and new appointment, it’s likely that former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton’s only child may be entering politics as well. As Clinton’s political presence on Twitter has increased over the recent months, it was reported that the Democrat Party may be preparing to have her run for political office.
According to Express’ sources, Clinton has been put forward to run for Rep. Nita Lowey’s House seat when the 79-year-old chooses to retire. Some have also said that she can be a possible successor for New York Senator Kristin Gillibrand if she chooses to run for president in 2020.
