‘Mafia 3’ Uncovered: Character Details, Plot, Gameplay, Release Date — Find Out More!

"Mafia 3," which is set to be released in 2016, has been uncovered. Let's take a closer look at the characters, plot, gameplay and settings of 2K Games' highly anticipated game franchise.

Unlike "Mafia 2," which was set between the '40s and '50s, its sequel is set in the '60s at New Orleans in Louisiana. During this time, racial tension, counterculture music political assassinations and anti-war movements are rampant.

The protagonist's name is Lincoln Clay, a half black and half white, living at New Orleans in 1968. Clay, who was an orphan, spent his life finding a place to belong and people who he can call family.

He found family when he joined a black mob in the United States. They were affiliated with the Italian mafia in New Orleans.

He witnessed the death of his new family by the hands of the Italians in an act of betrayal. He now seeks revenge against the mafia, taking out its leader Sal Marcano.

Creative Director Haden Blackman said they wanted to go beyond the usual "rags to riches story" that everyone is familiar with in the previous Mafia titles, Xbox Achievements learned.

Clay was joined by three people in the trailer. One is Cassandra, leader of a faction of Haitian gangsters. The other one was Burke, member of an Irish mob who shares the same problem with traditional mafia, and finally, the character that everyone loved in "Mafia 2," Vito Scaletta, who's now out of the prison living a post-Empire City life.

"Mafia 3" was described by Game Informer as an unconventional sequel, which is the very reason why it was so exciting. The site found the details of the game very impressive.

The gameplay is still in the third-person mode. The game will feature a soundtrack, which includes songs from The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Jimi Hendrix, Quarter Disorder reported.

"Mafia 3" is to be released in PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
