What Are The Worst Possible Kind Of Things To Wear To A Job Interview?

While it is true that job interview ensembles are largely exaggerated, especially in this day and age, you should also not go to the other extreme. There are some things that you should definitely take care of when dressing for an interview.

1. Clothes that don't fit you well

While you do not have to wear anything branded or flashy, Monster also believes you also shouldn't wear clothes that don't fit right - mostly because they will make you feel uncomfortable, and that never ends well in an interview. Don't wear something too tight or too short - it might distract the employers, or worse, yourself, from being at your best.

2. Clothes that are too casual

It is always possible to take the casual look too far, even if you are interviewing at a place not too formal. Avoid jeans, tennis shoes, shorts, t-shirts, hats, flip-flops, or anything with some kind of a slogan or message on it. Men wearing suits should ideally avoid loud, obnoxious colors, busy-printed shirts or overly patterned ties. Conservative is always classier for work, remember that rule.

3.Clothes that will visually distract

This one should be obvious, but do not wear something that is too bright, or god forbid, neon. Your interview needs to focus on you as a person - not on your fashion sense. Women should not wear anything too revealing or low cut - this goes without saying. Make up and jewelry should be kept to a minimum. Best to stick to the basics: black, blue or grey basics.

4.Something completely the opposite of what was suggested to you

Sometimes you can ask beforehand what to dress like at an interview, but it is not obligatory for you to dress exactly like that. However, you also do not have to go to the other extreme and do the opposite of what was asked; especially once you have already asked for their opinion.
