Celebrate National Beer Day: How A Man Made His Own Brewery

It was only when Richard Catlin quit his full time job and realized he wanted to fulfill his dream. He has always dreamed of opening his own brewery.

And he did. Later on, Burton Brewery was born. In just a few months, he quit his job and bought an industrial unit. He turned his one unit into a full-blown brewery and a bar on the side. His brewery, located in Falcon Close exhibits high standards because it comes from a man with high standards.

Quitting his day job was only the first step. The whole process requires intense focus and organization. Luckily for the business owner, he's got that skill down. "I'm a bit of perfectionist," says Catlin. "Beer is one of the hardest things to make and it tastes different to everybody.

For him, it's all about the right ingredients and brewing conditions that make the perfect pint. According to BurtonMail, it takes time to get the recipe right. But when it's right, it's perfect. "It's about the taste and getting it 100% spot on but the reason you do it is to see the satisfaction on customers' faces - if they don't like it then I certainly won't!"

The brewer is so proud of his work that he displays the units and barrels on his Burton Brewery Facebook page. But he claims he's not doing it to get rich. "If you ask a brewer about getting into the industry, they'll probably tell you not! Many aren't doing it for the money!" exclaims Catlin.

He loves beers that are full of flavor and he goes on to say that brewing is fun but it is definitely hard work. The man turned his passion into a business. Have you thought about what your passions are and how you can make a business out of it?
