Starbucks Introduces New Frappe, Brings Back Happy Hour Amidst Lawsuit

Starbucks has introduced a new Frappuccino drink. The company has also announced that it will be bringing back the Frappuccino Happy Hour. This comes after the company was sued for using too much ice on its iced beverages.

TIME reported that Starbucks has revealed a new summer beverage. Caramel Waffle Cone launched at stores in the U.S. and Canada on Tuesday. It will be available all summer long.

The drink is made up of "waffle cone syrup and dark caramel sauce and topped with whipped cream, waffle cone pieces and more dark caramel sauce." Customers can still choose whether to have whole milk, skimmed or non-fat milk.

Starbucks also announced the return of the campfire classic S'mores Frappuccino. This is another popular seasonal flavor.

"When you think of waffle cones in an ice cream shop, it's that aroma of the caramelized brown sugar and butter that draw you in," Maretta Delacruz of Starbucks beverage development team said. "We used these aromas as our inspiration to capture the flavor of the new Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino."

In another report by TIME, it was revealed that the Frappuccino Happy Hour is back. The promo is available from May 3 to May 15, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Customers in the U.S. and Canada will get half-priced discounts on the following flavors: Caramelized Honey, Cinnamon Dolce, Java Chip and Green Tea Créme, among others. The promo comes regardless of the drink's size.

Starbucks is currently facing a $5 million lawsuit for using too much ice in its cold drinks. According to CNN, Stacy Pincus claimed that the company's advertisement of its cold drinks by fluid ounce is only accurate when ice has been added.

Apparently, the popular coffee shop chain is "deceiving its customers" by giving less amount of actual liquid and more ice. For example, a Venti cold drink is supposed to have 24 fluid ounces but, in actuality, only has 14 ounces of the actual liquid, as per the lawsuit.
