Tom Hiddleston as the Next James Bond? Bookmaker ‘Pulls the Plug’

Coral bookmakers have "pulled the plug" on Tom Hiddleston as the new James Bond after chances tipped significantly in favor of the actor.

"There's no smoke without fire, and following the big gamble on Tom Hiddleston in the last 24 hours, we've had no choice but to pull the plug on the market," Coral spokesperson Nicola McGeady said in a statement to The Guardian. "Earlier in the year there was a gamble on Idris Elba and Damian Lewis, but nothing has come close to the recent gamble on Hiddleston."

As of latest bet updates, Hiddleston is still the favorite in terms of replacing Daniel Craig as the next Agent 007. The bookmakers said the bets significantly changed after reports of Hiddleston meeting with Bond film director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli surfaced.

Furthermore, Hiddleston had already expressed that he is interested in playing the role of 007, claiming that such would be an "extraordinary opportunity," Time reports.

If rumors of Hiddleston becoming the next 007, then it would be another milestone in his acting career. As of present, the 34-year-old actor has been enjoying the limelight. However, such blooming career may not be reflected in his net worth.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Hiddleston's net worth is just $8 million.

The British actor is not complaining though as he still has more years to spend in the industry, having only started his career in the 2000's.

While still studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Hiddleston already began his professional acting career.  His break came in after catching the attention of an agent who saw him in a production of "A Streetcar Named Desire".

The then made his professional on-camera debut via the television mini-series, "The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby". Since then, Hiddleston had a lot of appearances in several British television movies and series including "Conspiracy", "The Gathering Storm", "A Waste of Shame", "Suburban Shootout", "Unrelated", "Casualty", "Miss Austen Regrets", and "Return to Cranford".

Then, by 2011, he made it big time by landing the role of Loki in in "Thor". Since that movie, Hiddleston has been receiving a number of movie casting opportunities and is still continuing to receive as of present time.
