‘Conjuring 2’ Spin Off: Valak Nun Gets Own Movie, Director James Wan Explains Horned Demon

The Conjuring 2 movie made its way to theaters. Audience reception was pretty well. In fact, it was so intense that there are talks going around that a spin off called The Nun is being made.

The Nun from The Conjuring 2 movie is the main antagonist. The demonic character took a blasphemous form in the movie's sequel. Now, the nun, named Valak, is going to get its own movie.

What many don't know is that the nun was a last-minute addition to the film. According to Komo News, movie director James Wan originally intended for the antagonist to be a horned demon. Three months prior to the release of the movie, he changed his mind. The Guardian has it that viewers appear to be more scared of the nun in the Conjuring sequel.

Because of its success, the nun gets its own spin off. If given the green light, it will be the second spin off from the horror franchise. The first one was Anabelle in 2014 - the demonic doll. There are talks of Anabelle getting a sequel next year.

It is still unclear what kind of plot will revolve around the nun. The demon, Valak, took the form of a nun to terrorize the lead paranormal investigators. Will the spin off center around the source of the demon's power? How he came to the world of men? It could be an origin story. Nothing is for certain yet.

To make The Nun happen, director James Wan will be teaming up with screenwriter David Leslie Johnson and producer Peter Safran. The same guys who made Conjuring. James Wan was praised because of his film making abilities. His orchestration and editing of the film makes it a full pledged horror-fest.

The Conjuring 2 is still showing in theatres worldwide.
