In "Designated Survivor" episode 8, the problems facing Presdient Thomas Kirkman continue. Some of them are resolved while the rest will keep fans guessing what happens next.
As related in News Everyday, the plan for special elections was already approved by the president but an incident happened that put the elections in jeopardy. Apparently, there was a threat of a biological attack in Kansas, where polling places was targeted by terrorists.
President Thomas Kirkman was concerned about the news and or
dered an immediate inquiry on the incident. Investigations led to a suspect's house which contained only traces of a certain toxin. To be safe, Kirkman ordered the elections cancelled.
When further gathering of facts indicated that there was no real danger of a full scale biological attack on the polling places, the president changed his mind and let the elections push through. Entertainment Weekly confirms that the elections went well and the president was one of the very first to vote. His action inspired voters to come to the polling places and vote, knowing that they are safe.
Kirkman was upset when he learned that a reporter asked Leo at school who his father was, resulting to an emotional family confrontation. The president ordered his men to keep reporters away from his son.
The results of the paternity test to determine who the father of Leo is finally arrived. Kirkman was finally relieved when the results confirmed that he was indeed the true biological father of his son. At last, one of his problems has been finally resolved.
The investigation on the Capitol Building bombing continued and has led to subplots that are becoming complicated. It has included the vice-president as one of those involved in the incident.
Kiefer Sutherland's Kirkman will continue to hold office through "Designated Survivor" episode 9. The president will discover that the secret documents being leaked online are coming from a traitor in his administration.
