'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Updates: New Battle Footage Released; Critics Believe Movie Will Define “Star Wars” Franchise Success

"May the force be with you" as "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" release new trailers in the upcoming film. Critics believe that this new movie will define the success and failure of the "Star Wars" franchise.

This new movie will be a standalone film to the Star Wars franchise. The story will focus on a group of rebels that want to steal the Death Star plan, which is the ultimate weapon for mass destruction in the film

"The creation of the Death Star brought together a group of ordinary people that chose to do an extraordinary thing to save their galaxy. In doing this, they became part of something greater than them selves," Coming Soon reported.

Setting aside excitement for the film, critics believe that the new addition to the "Star Wars" franchise will define whether the franchise is a success or failure. So far, critics seemed to love the new addition to the franchise.

The Verge reported that it is a gutsy movie which shows that "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is not the same as the original "Star Wars" franchise but it has the same vibe. It puts heroic people who were not included in the original franchise into the spotlight.

Director Gareth Edwards explained that fans would not recognize any of the characters in the new movie. LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy also added that fans are not going to see these characters on "Star Wars" Episode VIII or IX.

"Gareth Edwards has been vocal on his desire to make a rebel war movie that is resisting an oppressive empire. He explained that to create this film the director and his team World War II and Vietnam War as its template," the site stressed.

He explained that it is important that they differentiate themselves in the "Star Wars" franchise. Edwards focused on making a standalone film that is not defined by the franchise.

Gareth Edwards' fearless attitude seemed to be reminiscent on his predecessor's success in films. Jobs & Hire reported that George Lucas, original director of "Star Wars," does not fear combing technological innovations and risks. "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will hit theaters on December 16.
