NBA Rumors: Tim Duncan Suiting Up For The Spurs? Retirement Just A Short Break For The Big Fundamental

The Tim Duncan era is over for the San Antonio Spurs since Duncan announced his retirement back in July. He has played 19 seasons for the Spurs and has shown intense loyalty for the franchise. Recently, he was seen playing one-on-one with Pau Gasol and NBA rumors are now spreading that his retirement might be just a short break for him.

According to CBS Sports, Duncan paid a visit on Monday to the Spurs' practice and played a pick-up game with Gasol. The game wasn't that intense but it appears that the "Big Fundamental" still has it and NBA rumors have it that he could be playing one more season for the team. It was an unconventional game because Duncan only defended Gasol and he'd get a point if the latter missed a shot.

Duncan keeps on coming back and it seems like no one is stopping from playing basketball. In a report by For The Win, Duncan also stayed behind last November and was the last one to leave the Spurs' practice gym.

This NBA rumor about Duncan returning isn't far from happening because Michael Jordan also did it with the Washington Wizards. But with the retirement ceremony scheduled on Dec. 18 at the AT&T center, it's not sure if he would return.

If there's a possibility for this NBA rumor to happen, it would be Duncan suiting up for a position at the Spurs front office or as part of the coaching staff. There's no official statement coming from the franchise about hiring Duncan for a coaching or managerial position but head coach Gregg Popovich once stated that Duncan could be a coach of whatever he feels like.

NBA fans would really want these NBA rumors to happen and see Duncan suit up for a Spurs jersey one last time but it appears that it's the end of his glorious career. However, he won't be parting ways with the Spurs since he is the why the franchise has 5 championships.
