Jessica Alba’s Company Recalls Baby Powder On Potential Skin Infection

Actress Jessica Alba's the Honest Company is pulling its baby powder deemed to be organic out of the market. The actress has started the company to offer safe products for babies and children, but the organic baby powder apparently contains ingredients that may be harmful to the skin.

CNBC reported that the organic baby powder recall was done voluntarily. It means the company did not experience pressure from any regulator to withdraw the products from the market. However, it is not clear whether the voluntarily recall could spur further investigation to other products of the Honest Company.

The Honest Company disclosed that it discovered microorganisms that contaminated the organic baby powder that it was selling, International Business Times reported. Some of the microorganisms can potentially harm the skin and cause infections to babies.

The news will not be taken lightly by parents who are banking on the Honest Company's promise that it will deliver safe products to its customers. No one has come forward to claim that the organic baby powder harmed their baby's skin yet, but every recall is potentially a cause for class-action lawsuits by customers.

The organic baby powder recall is the latest among the list of issues that the actress' company experienced in the past few years. The Honest Company pride itself for using organic materials for its products, but there were claims that some of its materials were actually synthetic.

In addition, some of the products that it sells, like its sunscreen, does not deliver on the things that it promised to do. For example, Honest Sunscreen SPF30 allegedly does not do its job of protecting the skin from serious burns.

Jobs & Hire previously reported that regulatory authorities are considering revising consumer product safety inspections and regulations following several recalls of household products, including Samsung top-load washing machines and some smartphones.
