Soccer Transfer Rumors 2014: Atletico Madrid Interested in Javier Hernandez; Manchester United to Loan Marouane Fellaini?

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has made several additions to the squad after losing key players this summer, but the reigning La Liga champions are not done making moves as reports indicated that Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is on their radar.

Simeone has successfully signed Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann to bolster their roster after losing key players Diego Costa, David Villa, and Adrian this summer.

When asked about the team's interest in Hernandez, Simeone said that it's up to their sporting directors on whether to spend or not, but he quickly added that anything is possible for a player of Hernandez's caliber.

"We have spoken to the sporting directors, discussed with them our ideas on the players we want," Hernandez said in a news conference. "After that it's up to them to get the players. With Javier Hernandez and many other good players, anything is possible. You can't close the door on anything until the transfer window closes."

Hernandez has scored 59 goals in 152 games with Manchester United, but has been overshadowed by Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie last season where he only started in six league games.

New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is reportedly high on the 26-year-old forward, but the Mexican international is still expected to spend most of next season as a substitute for either Rooney or van Persie.

Meanwhile, Marouane Fellaini, who also struggled last season after being slowed down by injuries in his first season at the Old Trafford, could find himself moving to Napoli next season.

ESPN reported that Napoli made an inquiry on Fellaini's availability. United are reportedly willing to sell the 26-year-old, but Napoli are reportedly pushing for a one-season loan before finalizing a sale next summer.

"United would like to sell the Belgium international outright, Napoli prefer the option of a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent next summer as they are reluctant to stump up the reported 15 million pound fee," ESPN FC noted.
