Lindsey Vonn News & Tiger Woods Injury Update: Vonn, Woods Working Way Back From Injuries

Lindsey Vonn is aiming to return to competition soon, while Tiger Woods is also working his way back from a back injury that slowed down the sporting couple this year.

Vonn, a former Olympic downhill champion, is back on the Alps and has been training over the past three weeks, testing how her knee will hold up.

The 30-year-old skier, who sustained a torn ACL in his right knee during the 2013 World Championship, is optimistic that her comeback bid will go better than last year when she hurt the surgically-repaired knee again, which forced her to miss her title defense at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

"Everything is going really well," Vonn said via Denver Post. "The knee feels really good. With the meniscus stuff, I expected something to go wrong or there would be a setback of some sort, but there wasn't anything. It was great the whole time. I didn't have any pain, didn't have any swelling. It was quite a bit better than I expected."

Vonn said that she'll skip the four races of this season as she is targeting to return at the super-G races on December 5-7 in Alberta. The skiing star is also looking forward to competing at the 2015 World Ski Championship in front of hometown fans in Colorado in February, but she said that she will continue taking a cautious approach in her recovery.

"Obviously I can do well in the world championships. I try to not push pressure on myself, I'm taking it slower than last year, and hopefully I'll be able to be on the podium again," Vonn said via Yahoo Sports. "I'm not focused on the overall title this season, I'm just focused on trying to win races and trying to get back on the podium."

Like his girlfriend, Woods is also doing well in his rehabilitation from a back injury with reports indicating that the former world's top player is already hitting golf balls on the range again.

"The doctors said he could hit golf balls again, and he's listening to his doctors and to his body," Woods' agent Mark Steinberg told USA Today. "He will keep listening to his doctors and body."

Woods, who has been slowed down by back issues since undergoing surgery in March, is planning make his return at the 2014 Hero World Challenge on December 4-7 in Orlando.
