‘Girls Und Panzer’ News & Updates: Anime Movie Earned 2.4B Yen; 13th Highest Grossing Film In Japan

Anime "Girls und Panzer" movie has earned 2.4 billion yen this year. It is reported to be the 13th top-grossing Japanese Film.

Anime Fans were actually psyched when they found out that there will be a live-adaptation of "Hyouka" in 2017. Jobs & Hire reported that actor Kento Yamazaki will play the role of Hotaro Oreki and Alice Hirose will play the role of Eru Chitanda.

Now, they are even more excited when they found out about the success of "Girls und Panzer" had. The movie has just finished screening on November 25 after screening for more than a year in the Tachikawa Cinema City.

"Theater's ticket sales accounted for 12. 4 percent of the total number of Japan, which means 176,200 fans watched the anime. Though the regular screening has ended, the cinema would irregularly screen 'Girls und Panzer' movie starting December 2.  This is expected to continue until December 2017 when the six-part Final Chapter film would be released," Crunchyroll reported.

Eleven Arts has release an English dubbed version of "Girls und Panzer" movie in 33 theaters in the United States. The movie is an adaptation of the "Girls und Panzer" anime series that opened in 2012.

The anime follows the live of school girls from Ooarai Girls Academy who live on an alternate universe where there is a sport called Panzerfahren, which is the art of tank fighting. The school girls operate and battle using WWII tanks against other school, while, creating a strong bond with each other.

Anime News Network reported that the film was released on DVD and Blu-ray discs on May 27, 2016. There was also a special edition Blu-ray disc that sold 162,361 copies on its first week,

There was also an OVA that was released that takes place after the events of the movie. Aside from these, "Girls und Panzer" creators also released a short movie entitled "Yukari Akiyama's Tank Lecture."
